Introducing Our New Class Scheduling Tool: Schedulicity

Pandemics have a way of speeding up things that were going to happen anyway. In our case, it means that effective today, we’ve made the switch from MindBody to a new-to-us, simpler and more affordable class scheduling tool: Schedulicity

Here are some of the things you can do in Schedulicity:

Based upon our testing thus far, you’ll receive more/better communication from Schedulicity about the classes you do sign up for. We’ll also be using it to more efficiently send out the online class login details for all of our online offerings.

What You Need To Know About Schedulicity

We transferred your name, email address, phone number (if you had provided one), current class passes and any pending class reservations from MindBody to Schedulicity IF you had an “active” MindBody account with Shenandoah Yoga AND were currently subscribed to our e-newsletters.

Per PCI compliance, we did NOT transfer billing info – it’s up to you to enter and/or save billing info in the new system!

Upon first use, you’ll claim or create your Schedulicity account. In doing so, you should also read over and virtually sign the class waiver. You will not be able to bypass the checkout option and apply your existing class packages until you have signed the waiver. 

Our rate have NOT changed. The default price listed for each class is the standard, non student/senior drop-in class fee. You do NOT have to pay the displayed drop-in fee if you have an existing class pass, or if you don’t already have a pass, you can get lower prices by purchasing one of our 4X, 8X or 20X multi-class packages. We continue to offer them in “regular” and “prenatal yoga” versions, including student/senior options.

Introducing New Outside Yoga Classes

Many of us have been missing our in-person yoga classes, so we’re pleased to announce our new outside yoga classes beginning this week and running through early fall.

  • Wednesdays, 9:00-10:15 am: Vinyasa Yoga
  • Friday, 9:00-10:00 am: Hatha Yoga

As always with our morning classes, you MUST sign up online via Mind Body by 9:00 pm the evening prior to each outside, in-person class to guarantee that class will happen. We will hold each class as long as at least ONE person signs up by the 9:00 pm deadline. Later online registrations will be allowed after that time up until 8:00 am the morning of each class as space permits. We are limiting outside class attendance to FOUR students to ensure plenty of space (more than the required six feet) between everyone .

Classes will be held OUTSIDE on the patio behind Shenandoah Yoga & Shenandoah Bicycle Company, weather permitting. When weather does not permit, classes will be held online, and students will be notified of the change in format by email by no later than one hour in advance.

Bring your own mat (we suggest you bring two for extra padding on the brick and concrete surface) plus any props (block/strap) that you’d like to use. Please wear a mask getting to/from your mat while you may come into closer proximity with others. During class while maintaining the required social distancing, your mask is optional, but we encourage use of it throughout. Remember, we’ll be outside, so please dress appropriately for the temperature.

Online Free Community Yoga on March 20

After successfully testing our new online yoga class capability this week, we are pleased to announce that we are taking the spring edition of our Free Community Yoga Class online on Friday, March 20 at 6:00 pm!

As many of you already know, we offer a Free Community Yoga class in celebration of each equinox and solstice, and we’re excited to continue to do so, even in these unusual and challenging times.

Please sign up at least 2 hours in advance. We will then email you details on how to connect for class using Zoom. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and you may wait list. If you can’t make it for any reason, please cancel out, so we can give your spot to someone else! We are limiting class size to keep our classes intimate and facilitate meaningful social interaction during this time of self-isolation.

Because this is an online class, we will NOT accept donations of cash or non-perishable food like we usually do, but we still strongly encourage you (if you are in a position to do so) to donate cash or non-perishable food directly to your local food bank or pantry. I’m sure they are going to be increasingly busy and in need of donations as many of us experience partial or complete unemployment.

More COVID-19 Updates

The health and safety of our students and the community at large continue to be our priority, so we are making the following changes, effective immediately.

All in-person yoga classes at Shenandoah Yoga are cancelled until further notice as we do what we can for our community to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

We are intending to offer online Shenandoah Yoga classes. We’ll be conducting a preliminary, private online test class on Wednesday, March 18, then hope to offer another free test class (limited to 5 virtual students) class on Thursday, March 19 at 5:30 pm. If you are willing to help us test, please sign up for the test class via Mind Body. It is free! You will need a computer, tablet or smartphone with decent internet and will have to download some software prior to being able to join your first online class, which will include audio and video feeds. We will send instructions by email to those who sign up.

If all goes well, we will hold our Spring Equinox Free Community Yoga class, now scheduled for Friday, March 20 at 6:00 pm, online. Then we hope to resume offering some regular classes next week – also all online. If we end up needing to acquire more equipment or technology to facilitate our online classes, we hope you’ll be patient and bear with us while we get up to speed. We aim to continue serving you throughout the coming weeks and months during these unusual times.

As previously mentioned, Shenandoah Yoga is a small, local business run on a small budget and without a lot of cash resources, so we are NOT able to issue class pass refunds at this time. We are hoping to make it through the crisis and remain in business and appreciate your understanding considering the extreme situation. We will do everything we can afterward with regard to dealing with passes that expire because you can’t attend classes or because we can’t offer them.

COVID-19 Updates

Our number one priority is the health and safety of our students and the community at large, so we are making the following changes, effective immediately.

We will no longer be providing loaner mats or props, including blocks, blankets, straps and bolsters. We also do not rent those items. You MUST bring your own mat and any props that you would like to use. We will give modifications for those of you who attend class but who do not have props.

If you do not have your own yoga mat and are unable to obtain one, please contact us for alternatives prior to attending class. We have a few mats that we’ve recently retired from our loaner fleet that we can bring back to the studio and donate to those in need, and we will sell our lightly used loaner mats at a discount. 

We are limiting attendance to nine students for all classes. With just one restroom, we want to make sure there is plenty of access to it for the extra hand washing we expect everyone to be doing before and after class. We strongly encourage you to register in advance so you do not make the trip to class and find no spots available. If you sign up and can’t make it, please cancel your registration so someone else can use your spot.

Prenatal Yoga is suspended until further notice. According to the CDC website, there are still many unknowns about the impact of COVID-19 on pregnant women and their babies. 

Yoga Lab: Inversions & Arm Balances, scheduled for 3/16, and Restorative Yoga, scheduled for 3/30, are cancelled. We feel these classes are best taught with use of many props and the wall. We will do our best to reschedule them after the COVID-19 crisis has passed.

Because our studio walls have a rough texture that is difficult to disinfect, we will avoid practicing poses that require use of the walls.

We will not be shaking hands, hugging or touching any of our students (for adjustments or otherwise), and we encourage all of you to do the same. We will be even more frequently cleaning and disinfecting all high touch surfaces such as door knobs, our iPad and our bathroom.

At this time, we’re leaving the decision about whether to attend class up to you. Please do NOT come to class if you are sick, know that you have been exposed to the virus, are living with someone who is sick or has been exposed or are at high risk of serious illness should you contract the virus. We promise to do the same and will cancel classes in any of those cases.

Free Community Yoga on December 7

Shenandoah Yoga’s next Free Community Yoga Class will happen on Saturday, December 7 from 10:00 am to 11:15 am. This free class is being held in celebration of the upcoming Winter Solstice. All levels are welcome to this multi-level class, including new, current and former students. The more the merrier!

We strongly encourage optional donations of non-perishable food or cash, which will go 100% to the local food bank a few blocks from the studio.
