Time For A Change

As we head into summer, we have some big news to share — something that those of you who’ve attended online and in-person classes during the past several weeks have already heard: We’ll be closing Shenandoah Yoga’s physical studio space effective July 14, 2022. After 16+ years of operating a yoga studio, it’s time to let go of our space and make some changes.
“For years, I’ve encouraged all of you to find more balance in your lives, and I’ve always tried to do the same,” said Shenandoah Yoga’s Owner Sue George. “And while I’ve almost always worked full-time and run the studio, after having taken on a more demanding, non-yoga professional role about four years ago, I’m finding that I no longer have the time or schedule flexibility to do everything required to run Shenandoah Yoga in its current format. The good news is that I still love teaching yoga and plan to continue to do so both online and in-person albeit not quite as often.”
We’d like to say a huge THANK YOU to all students, friends, former teachers, and family who have supported Shenandoah Yoga in its various iterations over the years to date. Running any business for 16 years would not have been possible without it.
We’d also especially like to thank Shenandoah Bicycle Company for their unequivocal support and for hosting our space upstairs for 15 of the past 16 years. Their encouragement as a fellow local business, especially during the toughest parts of the pandemic when there was no choice but to suspend all in-person classes, has been wonderful. If you ever need a new bike or if you need some maintenance done on your old bike, I highly recommend Shenandoah Bicycle Company.
In the meantime, you can continue sign up for online and in-person classes via Schedulicity.
More Details
After we close our physical yoga studio space on July 14, 2022, Shenandoah Yoga will continue to offer yoga to students in Harrisonburg and other locations in two formats:
- Online – The 5:30 pm Monday Hatha Yoga Class will continue as-is. The 7:15 pm Vinyasa Yoga Class, which has always been lightly attended during the summer, will go on hiatus. Thursday evening classes will also go on hiatus, while some Prenatal Yoga classes will be rescheduled to Monday evenings this summer.
- In-Person – The Wednesday morning 8:00 am Vinyasa Yoga class will continue to be held outside on the patio behind Shenandoah Bicycle Company, weather permitting. When weather does not permit, it will be converted to an online class. We’ll make the call on class format by ~9:30 pm the evening before each week’s class based on the forecast.
As we wind down in-person, in-studio operations, the sale of multi-class passes is being limited. When your current pass runs out, you can purchase a single class pass to attend any scheduled class. As Shenandoah Yoga’s business model shifts, you can expect to hear more ahead of the fall. Class offerings will be adjusted to better suit the natural, seasonal ebb and flow of the yoga business and our personal and work-related travel and other interests and obligations. Stay tuned to this site for updates later this summer.
After July 14, 2022, if you have an unused, unexpired class pass, you may continue to use it until it expires for the aforementioned class offerings or request a class pass refund that will be pro-rated to reflect the number of classes redeemed and remaining.
